Excursions to Capraia

Capraia is one of the seven islands that make up the Tuscan Archipelago. It is located right in front of the city of Livorno and is connected to this by a ferry service that in summer increases the races. To reach Capraia it takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes of sailing. The island lies approximately 54 km from the mainland, closer to Corsica than to Italy.
After being used for years as a criminal colony, Capraia is now open to mass tourism. The island has to offer incredible natural beauty that has always identified it as one of the wildest archipelago. Rocky and suggestive cliffs eroded by the wind are the only evidence of volcanic eruptions that millions of years ago gave birth to the island.
One of the most beautiful cliffs to admire is Cala Rossa, with a variety of colors ranging from red to black. Excursions to Capraia are possible all year round. The island territory is suitable for many seasonal activities: hiking, mountain biking, birdwatching, snorkelling, diving. There are also many events that animate the life of the two small inhabited centers located at the harbor and at the foot of the Forte di San Giorgio.
